Healthy Greek Yogurt with Probiotics in the Mediterranean Diet
Greek yogurt is a staple in the Mediterranean Diet. Not only is it thick, creamy and delicious, but it contains gut essential bacteria known as probiotics. Probiotics are essential to gut health. A healthy digestive system not only eliminates such issues as, constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, lactose intolerance and diarrhea, but it also aids in a more efficient immune system.
When choosing a Greek yogurt that contains probiotic names such as Lactobacillus acidophilus or Lactobacillus casei, which are live active cultures. In order to preserve the beneficial bacteria in the yogurt, it is advised not to heat it beyond 120 degrees F. There are many ways to enjoy this creamy treat while preserving its health giving benefits.
