The Role of Omega 3 and the Mediterranean Diet
Experts agree that there are many health benefits to the Mediterranean Diet.
Three of the most important components of the diet are eating green leafy vegetables, consuming fish, and replacing butter with olive oil. All of these foods contain a substance known as Omega 3 fatty acid.
Many scientific studies prove that Omega 3 lowers triglycerides, decreases blood clotting, improves the health of blood vessels, and helps moderate blood pressure, thus reducing the risk of a heart attack or stroke.
Other Recent studies found that Omega 3 reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s by preventing brain shrinkage and also aids in lifting depression.
Weight loss is another benefit of the Omega 3 fatty acids. During exercise the increased blood flow to the muscles helps stimulate enzymes which cause fat to burn more efficiently, thus facilitating weight loss.
With so many health benefits Omega 3 is vital part of every diet.
